Since launching TrackTunes, I've started listening to full albums from top to bottom on my morning runs. It's been such a refreshing way to really explore, discover, and get to know artists in a much more intimate way than just blowing past them in a playlist.

It's legit been kind of addictive. I've completed dozens of albums during my runs this year, and I kept wishing there was a way to see them all in one place. So that's what I built!

Introducing Album Completion Tracking

TrackTunes now tracks when you complete a full album during your activities. It's pretty simple: listen to every track on an album during a single workout, and you've got yourself a completed album.

One thing to keep in mind: you've got to finish that last track! If you stop your activity mid-song, it won't count as played. So if you're going for the completion, make sure to let that final track play all the way through before you hit stop.

Level Up Your Listens

Maybe this is kind of silly, but I've also added a little gamification element; if you listen to an album multiple times, it will level up.

  • 🥉
Bronze — Complete the album once
  • 🥈
Silver — Complete the album 3 times
  • 🥇
Gold — Complete the album 5 times

It's a simple progression, but makes it easy to see the favorites you keep coming back to.

Per-Track PRs

As a Strava user, you're probably familiar with segments, stretches of road or trail where you can compare your times against yourself and others. I wanted to bring that same energy to album listening by treating each track as a segment.

Dive into any album to see your per-track performance history

Think of the album as your "route" and each track as a "segment." Every time you listen to a track during an activity, TrackTunes records your average speed during that song. Over multiple listens, you'll build up a history and can see your personal records for each track.

It's a fun way to discover patterns you might not have noticed. Maybe that bridge on track 5 consistently gets you flying. Maybe track 2 is always a warm-up pace..

Why Full Albums?

In an age of playlists and shuffle, listening to a complete album feels almost like a lost art. But there's something special about experiencing an artist's work the way they intended - as a journey from start to finish.

For me, it's turned my morning runs into little adventures. Instead of wondering what random song will come up next, I get to hear a story. I've discovered so many deep cuts and album tracks that I never would have heard if I was just shuffling through hits.

And now, with album tracking, I can look back and see all those musical journeys in one place.
