Yes! That's exactly what TrackTunes does. When you link Strava to Spotify through TrackTunes, you can:
- See your workout soundtrack: TrackTunes automatically adds the songs you listened to during each activity directly to your Strava activity description
- Share with friends: Your Strava followers can see what music powered your workout
- Track performance by song: Analyze which songs help you achieve your best times and paces
- Build better playlists: Use your activity data to create custom playlists optimized for your workouts
TrackTunes syncs everything automatically after the initial 2-minute setup. Just connect both accounts and start working out!
Strava doesn't have a built-in Spotify integration, but TrackTunes connects the two services seamlessly. TrackTunes is an official third-party app that:
- Bridges Strava and Spotify: Automatically syncs your Spotify listening history with your Strava activities
- Adds music to activities: Updates your Strava activity descriptions with the songs you listened to
- Provides insights: Shows which music helps you perform best during runs and rides
- Winner of Strava's 2025 Up & Coming App Award: Recognized by Strava for bringing innovative integration to athletes
TrackTunes is free to start (first 25 activities) and provides the Strava-Spotify connection that athletes have been looking for!
Unfortunately, TrackTunes currently only supports Spotify. Here's why TrackTunes can't support other popular music services:
- Apple Music: Apple Music's API doesn't provide timestamps for when songs are played, making it impossible to accurately match songs with your Strava activities. Without knowing exactly when each song was played, TrackTunes can't determine which songs you listened to during a specific workout.
- SoundCloud: SoundCloud's Terms of Service prohibit any commercial use of their API, which prevents TrackTunes from integrating it.
- Other Services: Most other streaming services either don't provide public APIs or have similar technical limitations that prevent accurate activity matching.
Spotify is currently the only major music streaming service that provides both listening history data and precise timestamps through their API, which is essential for TrackTunes to function properly.
Yes! TrackTunes offers a free tier that includes a limited number of activity updates. Premium users get unlimited updates and additional features.
At any time, you can go to Settings and delete your account, *or* you can revoke access directly from your Strava and Spotify account settings pages.
TrackTunes only accesses your Strava activities and Spotify listening history to match songs with your workouts. TrackTunes doesn't store your full listening history or share your data with third parties, and will never sell it. See the Privacy Policy for more details.
TrackTunes only updates the description field of your Strava activities to add the songs you listened to during your workout. TrackTunes doesn't modify any other data about your activities.
You have full control over what appears in your Strava activities. You can manage this in a few ways:
- Edit individual activities: Strava descriptions are fully editable, so you can edit your activity and remove the music with just a few taps.
- Disable automatic updates in Settings: If you prefer to keep your music private, you can disable Strava description updates in your TrackTunes settings. Your music data will still be processed and available for playlist building and performance analysis, but it won't be added to your Strava activities.
At this time, Spotify does not provide an API for podcast episodes, so they are not included in the activity summaries.
No, TrackTunes is a web application only. There are no plans for a dedicated mobile app as the service doesn't require any device-specific data to function. The web version works well on mobile browsers, and avoiding an app means one less thing potentially tracking and notifying you. The development effort for creating and maintaining mobile apps is also considerable for a solo project.
However, you can add TrackTunes to your home screen for an app-like experience:
On iOS: Tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up), and then tap "Add to Home Screen".
On Android: Tap the menu button (three dots) and select "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App".
There are several reasons why tracks might be missing from your activity:
- Spotify only gives TrackTunes access to the songs you played, not the ones you skipped.
- Songs played from a playlist that's been set to "Exclude from my taste profile" won't appear.
- Music streamed from "offline" devices (e.g. Apple Watch) does not appear in your Spotify listening history until it is synced to the Spotify app on your phone. If the activity is ended before it is synced, the music will not appear in your activity.
